Halloumi Fries with a Tahini Harissa Dip


I remember being pleasantly surprised the first time I tried Halloumi, which was in Nando's (2014) - a British food chain serving Portuguese style food. It's a salty, squeaky, grill-able cheese that is absolutely delicious. I normally grill Halloumi in a skillet, but I thought I would attempt to air-fry them - and wow, I am sure glad I did. These salty and crispy fries will definitely become a staple in my kitchen!


Halloumi Fries with a Tahini Harissa Dip

Ingredients:

1 250g Block Halloumi, cut into strips

1 Cup Flour

1 Tbs. Cayenne Pepper


Dip:

2 Tbs. Tahini

2 Tbs. Harissa Paste

Juice of 1 Lemon

Water to thin


Directions:

1. On a plate or in a bowl, mix flour with cayenne pepper. Roll halloumi strips into the flour mixture and place in the air fryer (best if placed on one layer, you may need to do 2 batches, depending on the size of your air fryer).

2. Turn air fryer to 200C (400F) and cook for 15 minutes. Flip the halloumi and cook for another 5-10 minutes, until all sides are crispy.

3. While the halloumi is in the air fryer, combine all ingredients in a bowl for the dip.


Note: if you do not have an air fryer, you can pan fry these on the stove top in a bit of oil!
